The glossary to understand and take action

Multisectoral Occupational Health Service (STM)

The STM supports affiliated companies in occupational health, medical surveillance and the prevention of occupational risks. It is an occupational health service, distinct from health insurance.

Understand the scope

Its role for your business

Employers must identify the occupational health service to which they belong. The STM is not the only possible service. Examinations and procedures depend in particular on roles, risks and employees' situations.

When to contact them and what to prepare

Describe the actual tasks and exposures in order to prepare the relevant requests. Prevention also covers ergonomics and work organisation. Conclusions intended for the employer must be handled in compliance with medical confidentiality: fitness-for-work management does not provide access to the entire health record.
